Markerland Park: Mysterious Jungle

 

Going clockwise around the park, guests first come to a remote jungle area, the park's equivalent to Adventureland. Here, guests can explore two exotic regions of the world: the jungles of Africa and the rainforests of southern Mexico.

When guests first enter the land, they come to a fork in the road. If they choose to go left, they will enter an East African outpost, drawing inspiration from Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The architecture is a mix between tribal and colonial. As guests go down the street, they will find the Village Market on the right and Rhett Kampala's African Restaurant on the left. Also here is a theater that plays Spirit of the Savanna, a show that is similar to the Festival of the Lion King, where guests celebrate the animals of the African savanna. Going further down will take guests to Safari Station, a gift shop, and the Exploration Camp, where guests can explore a research facility and learn more about animals. Going further down is the Hungry Hyena restaurant. Also here is where guests can board the Jungle Adventure ride, an animatronic safari ride with humor, mystery, and a dramatic finale. In a way, it is like the Jungle Cruise, but re-imagined as a safari ride.
Going up from the fork, guests cross into a jungle village on the Yucatan peninsula, home to a 1910s Mexican village. As they go around, guests may spot references to historical events happening at the time, such as the Mexican Revolution and World War I. Here, guests can shop at the El Mercado gift shop and eat at Isabella's Cantina de Mexico. Nearby are some mysterious Mayan ruins. Here, guests will brave the perils of The Questers Expedition, a dark ride similar to Indiana Jones Adventure, inspired by the Questers books. Also nearby is the Temple of Mystery family coaster. Questers Adventure Outpost is a gift shop nearby.

When developing this area, I knew that I wanted exotic locations. I also wanted to use my Questers books here because I thought they'd feel right at home in an adventurous world. When choosing out of many locations in the world, I quickly narrowed down to Africa and Mexico/Central America. I even referenced a friend of mine, Rhett Dixon, who served his mission in Uganda. I referenced both him and the nation's capital of Kampala in one of the restaurants.

The first gate in the resort is the one that gives its name to the resort. Markerland Park still has some slight similarities to its Disney inspiration, but it's definitely not Disneyland. It does use a hub-and-spoke layout and has similar areas though. Here, guests are immersed in a world of fantasy and adventure as they explore marvelous worlds and experience unforgettable attractions. I've gone through many drafts, some of which drove me insane to conceive. However, I finally have something worth typing about. What was the inspiration for this draft? Once again, it was Disney, not a real park, but a fictional park that someone made. I used this as a model and evolved from there. Luckily, it turned into a pretty neat park.

Markerland Resort: An Introduction

Allow us now to share with you our greatest dream. Located in Southern California is a theme park resort known as Markerland. This is inspired by the stories of me, Mason G. Marker, other stories, as well as original material that I have come up with. This aims to be an epic adventure where guests will find cutting-edge attractions, world-class entertainment, one-of-a-kind shopping, and noteworthy dining options. In addition, this is the realization of a lifelong dream I've had. Markerland Park: Castle Gardens

  In the center of the park is a hub that's sure to astonish. Here, guests are immersed in beautiful gardens where seasonal displays appear. There are bridges to every land here, as well as a large castle. It is a combination of realistic castles of Europe and Disney's fairy tale castles. It also serves as the park's icon. When coming in from Big City USA, guests walk through the gardens to a large pond in the center, where nighttime shows play. Standing in front of it is a small park with a bronze statue of Mason G. Marker and the Tribe, several animals of his. This includes Kit the Goose in his hands, stingrays Daddy Ray and Baby Ray on the left, beluga whales Belu and Fluffy on the right, and Helga the Badger and Rowena the Golden Eagle on his shoulders. The statue is called "Inspiration." Guests find bridges to the land in this clockwise order: Mysterious Jungle, Golden Gulch, Visionary Bay, and Future Expo.
